Nissan Gets Some New Kicks
Nissan is introducing its first new nameplate in eight years: the 2018 Nissan Kicks. This compact crossover offers expressive styling, intuitive personal technology, intelligent safety features, and an efficient powertrain at an affordable price. It’s perfect for young, active couples looking for a vehicle that’s as sporty and colorful as they are. Sliding in just below the popular Rogue Sport in size and price, the Kicks is an excellent gateway into Nissan’s adventure-ready sport utility portfolio. And with three well-equipped trim levels – S, SV, and SR – there is a Kicks for everyone.
“This emerging CUV class is exploding with new entries for a very good reason – the combination of flexible utility and high value is ideal for active, urban new vehicle buyers,” said Dan Mohnke, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing and Operations, Nissan Division U.S., Nissan North America, Inc. “Where the new Nissan Kicks stands out is with its bold style, personal technology, value and fuel economy of 33-mpg combined.”
Stunning Exterior Designs
The most notable design feature on the new Nissan Kicks is the disappearing act the C-pillars do, giving the Kicks its floating-roof look. But you can also use the online customizer to personalize the paint to match your unique style with a different colored roof, accent mirrors, and rims, and a plethora of color-pops in the cabin. But none of these features should distract you from the exterior’s crisp, clean lines optimized for aerodynamics.
A Fuel-Sipping Four-Cylinder
The 2018 Kicks comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 125 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque. Combined with a smooth Xtronic transmission, the Kicks delivers an EPA-estimated 31 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined. The Kick comes with front-wheel drive only, but its standard traction control and vehicle dynamic control help keep it stable.
Connected and Comfortable
Take a seat in a futuristic cabin that excels at putting intuitive tech at your fingertips. A comprehensive infotainment system with a center-mounted 7-inch full-color display dominates the Kick‘s modern and simple “Gliding Wing” instrument-panel design. You can stick with the 2018 Kick’s NissanConnect interface, or connect your smartphone to enjoy Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
For added comfort, you can upgrade to the SR Premium Package and enjoy heated Prima-Tex-appointed front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, tonneau cover, and automatic temperature control.
The 2018 Kick’s interior provides ample passenger space with flexible options for passengers and bulky items. The Kicks has an EPA-rated 32.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down, plus it has an additional 21.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk well for Nissan-estimated 54.1 cubic feet of usable cargo space.
Advanced Active Safety
For some peace of mind on the road, the 2018 Nissan Kicks features an available Intelligent Around View® Monitor. I-AVM uses four on-board cameras to present a virtual composite 360-degree bird‘s-eye view of the Kicks and split-screen close-ups of the front, rear, and curb-side views. It also gives you an on-screen heads-up when it detects moving objects near the vehicle. This is class-leading technology in the emerging subcompact crossover segment and offers a step on the road to Nissan Intelligent Mobility.
“Kick‘s unique combination of expressive design, excellent fuel economy, advanced technology and intelligent safety features adds up to one thing – exceptional value,” concluded Mohnke.
