The Force Can Control Nissan Star Wars Vehicles
To celebrate the opening of the new Star Wars movie, two Twitch broadcasters live-streamed a contest controlling the electric 2018 Nissan LEAF with only an app and some fancy hand motions. This was a one-of-a-kind experience with social video service Twitch to celebrate this exciting movie and the new tech from Nissan. While you can’t control your everyday Nissan vehicle with The Force and an app in real life, you can test drive any of our in-stock models today to experience other new ground-breaking tech – like the Nissan Intelligent Mobility.
“We cannot think of a more exciting way to celebrate the culmination of our Star Wars: The Last Jedi collaboration than this fan-guided Twitch competition to the opening night of the film,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications & Media, Nissan North America, Inc. “We are excited for Twitch fans to engage with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies available on the all-new 100% electric Nissan LEAF through the iconic imagery and characters of Star Wars.”
The live-streamed challenge featured competitors driving 2018 LEAF models with Intelligent Mobility technologies to navigate the “galaxy” and overcame challenges along the way. Fans in the Twitch chat joined in on the action online by choosing a side, and then deployed mechanics to either help their team or hinder the opponent.
“Twitch and Nissan are both at the forefront of driving new experiences, which is reflected in the Nissan’s newest campaign,” said Anthony Danzi, SVP of Client Strategy at Twitch. “By combining the Star Wars universe and Nissan’s newest vehicles with Twitch’s interactive live chat feature and top streaming personalities, viewers will be in for a one-of-a-kind event.”
Available in January 2018 with a range of 150 miles and a base price under $30,000, the all-new 100% electric all-new 2018 Nissan LEAF offers more range at a lower price. Nissan LEAF continues to be the best-selling 100% electric vehicle in the U.S. and the world.
