2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Vs. 2019 Honda CR-V

September 23rd, 2019 by

Small crossovers offer tons, as they deliver plenty of premium features and incredible roominess with small footprints. The 2019 Honda CR-V and 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport offer all that and more, but which is better for crossover shoppers in the Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City areas? Continue reading to find out.

The Honda CR-V received a sharp, new look in the 2017 model year that carries into the 2019 model mostly unchanged. It includes a mature and well-sorted nose, shapely taillights with swooping LED light bars, and plenty of upscale options to dress it up a bit.

The Nissan Rogue sport debuted as its own model separate from the Rogue back in 2017. Its look is on the sportier side of the segment with the signature Nissan V-Motion grille, deep scallops in the doors, a rear spoiler, and more. It also shows off a more premium side in its higher trim levels.

In terms of size, the Nissan Rogue Sport is significantly smaller than the CR-V in every measurement.

Advantage: 2019 Honda CR-V

  •       Upscale appearance
  •       Standard alloy wheels

Advantage: 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport

  •       Smaller footprint
  •       Sportier appearance

Inside, the 2019 Honda CR-V is a sharp-looking crossover at any trim level, though it’s base LX may feel a little dated with its smaller 5-inch infotainment screen and simple dash layout. All the other trims, though, get a larger screen and more premium dash appointments.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue takes a slightly different design approach on the inside. Here, it boasts a sportier look with plenty of swoopy lines, a prominent shifter, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. It also has a broader array of standard tech, putting it head and shoulders above the CR-V for shoppers on a budget. These standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and more.

In the front seats, the Nissan Rogue Sport has more headroom and legroom, but the larger CR-V takes the win in almost all other seating areas. The big win for the CR-V comes in rear legroom where it has a whopping 7 more inches than the Rogue Sport. The CR-V also gets big wins in cargo room.

  •       Sport interior design
  •       Roomier front seats
  •       Standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  •       Larger standard touchscreen

The 2019 Honda CR-V has a pair of available engines. The LX trim comes standard with a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter engine paired to a continuously variable transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. This amounts to a 7.7-second 0-to-60 time.

On EX and higher trims, Honda treats CR-V buyers to a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower. This engine also pairs with a CVT, but it’s quicker to 60 mph at 7.5 seconds.

The Nissan Rogue Sport has just one engine: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 141 horsepower. It’s no powerhouse and gets the Rogue Sport to 60 mph in 9.8 seconds, but it gets the job done. Where the Rogue Sport earns its keep is handling, as its smaller and lighter body matched with a sportier chassis makes it more entertaining in the corners.
